863,919. Towing couplings for road vehicles. RINGFEDER G.m.b.H. Dec. 9, 1958, No. 39678/58. Class 103(5). A road vehicle coupling comprises a towing hook a pivoted at d in a housing b, an operating lever f pivoted at e to an extension of the hook, and a link h pivoted at i and g to the housing and lever f respectively. The lever and link urged by a spring l act as a toggle mechanism to pivot and lock the hook to a closed position against an abutment n, the lever f moving to an abutment k on the housing. A spring loaded securing pin m is provided, and a recess p is formed on the top of the abutment n for the insertion of a lever to release the coupling when jammed. Specification 729,492 is referred to.
