663,507. Pipe joints. POTTS, F. C. (Parker Appliance Co.). Dec. 16, 1949, No. 32286/49. Class 99 (i) In a joint in which a sealing and securing sleeve 16 is deformed at its end 15 by a conical surface 6 in the socket 4 to grip the pipe 2 or is pressed on to the exterior of the flared end of the pipe, Fig. 3 (not shown), the other end of the sleeve has a weakened portion 22 which is deformed to grip the pipe by a conical surface 10 of the coupling nut, which thereafter contacts a non-contractible part 17b of the sleeve. The end of the sleeve has a conical surface interrupted by the weakening groove 18, and of less conicity than the surface 10 on the nut.
