Abstract

609,286. Pipe joints. DEHN, S. G. (Parker Appliance Co.). March 11, 1946, No. 7550. [Class 99 (i)] A sleeve 3, having a head 13 which is pressed on to the flared end 14 of a pipe by the square shoulder 12 of a nut 2, has a longitudinally slit portion 15 extending outside the nut, a packing ring 4 being compressed to contract the sleeve on to the pipe. The nut may have a shoulder 17 which positively engages the head 13 during the final tightening. In a modification, the sleeve has an extension which is deformed into sealing engagement with an unflared pipe end.
