Abstract
662,243. Gas turbine plant. ARMSTRONG SIDDELEY MOTORS, Ltd. Feb. 27, 1950. [April 29, 1949] No. 11406/49. Class 110(iii). [Also in Group XXVII] A method of releasably supporting an auxiliary unit such as a pump 16 from the frame of a gas turbine engine which is drivingly connected to the said auxiliary comprises providing the auxiliary and frame with spigoted, keyed flanges 31, 33 respectively, using a nut 40 which is axially located with respect to the flanges 31 and has screwthreaded engagement with the flanges 33, and providing a releasable catch, such as a pivoted bell crank lever to lock the nut against turning. The frame 12 constitutes a drive box for the pump 16 and is bolted to the main engine frame. The crank lever has teeth to engage teeth 52 on the nut and is held in the released or locked position by a leaf spring. The driving shaft 29 of the pump is splined to a shaft 26 which is itself splined to the hub of a gear 18 and is located in one direction by a circlip 27. The gear 18 is journalled in a bracket 20 secured to the frame 12 by bolts 21 which also carry a plate 23 to screen the rollers 19. The auxiliary may constitute a starting motor.
