Abstract
755.595. Turning-gear. SIMMS MOTOR UNITS, Ltd., DODDS, R. G., and ROBINSON, E. L. Oct. 20, 1954 No. 30274/54. Class 7(5) [Also in Group XXXVII] In a starter drive wherein engagement between a pinion 8 on a power shaft 1 and a gear 9 of an engine to be started is controlled by a nut 3 threaded on a screwshaft 2, the pinion 8 is restrained from disengaging by means of a cylindrical spring-loaded detent 12 which is adapted to be unlocked by a combination of centrifugal force and a force due to pinion acceleration, the detent 12 being slidably mounted in a radial cavity in the nut 3 and co-operating with a depression 14 in the screwshaft. The apparatus is substantially the same as that disclosed in Specification 755,594. Specification 609,093 also is referred to.
