660,890. Textile drafting apparatus. CASABLANCAS HIGH DRAFT CO., Ltd. Jan. 19, 1950 [Feb. 2, 1949], No. 2868/49. Class 120(ii). Textile drafting apparatus of the kind having two superposed fibre controlling belts supported at their front ends by a tensor providing a soft yielding delivery nip and at their rear ends by rollers providing a non- yielding or positive nip is equipped with means carried on the belt cradle and supporting the upper run of the lower belt for varying the distance between positive nips on either side of the belt delivery nip. In one form, changeable platform members 12, 12a, 12b, 12c support the lower belt 2 of a pair of belts 1, 2, member 12 being used for long fibres, member 12a for shorter and member 12c for the shortest fibres. The platform members have side lugs 11, which fit in slots in the side walls of the belt cradle. Another embodiment has a fixed platform arranged to support a transverse member, preferably triangular in crosssection and arranged to pass through one pair of a plurality of pairs of holes in the side walls of the cradles beneath the upper run of the lower belt, so as to deflect it. Another arrangement has a pivoted platform member, which may be fixed in any of a plurality of positions, whereby the run of the belts is deflected.
