Abstract

657,656. Mounting axles. JUY, L. C. H. March 24, 1949, No. 8077. Convention date, Oct. 8, 1948. Addition to 657,655. [Class 136 (ii)] In a hub assembly as described in the parent Specification a spring 7 is enclosed in the end member 6 tensioned by a screw 8 to prevent unscrewing of the end member when not associated with the control lever 12. The end member is secured on the shaft against rotation by a stud abutting the slot in the bracket 5 engaging in one of the holes in the end member. In a modification, Figs. 10 and 11, the end memmer 13 is provided with a screw threaded boss 13<SP>1</SP> for the lever 14 which can either be made to rotate the end member or by screwing, rotation or translation be made to engage one of a series of slots in a member 15 secured to the axle 2 to rotate the latter and tighten the other end members. In a further modification the lever is mounted between the fork lugs, one of which is fixed to the axle the other is screwed on so that the lever may rotate the axle or by translation rotate the adjacent end member.
