Abstract
664,115. Detachable wheel mountings JUY, L. C. H. July 18, 1949 [Oct. 25, 1948], No. 18886/49. Class 136(ii) A cycle hub spindle 3 which is threaded at both ends carries at one end a lever 12 rigid with the spindle to produce simultaneous movement along the spindle of locking caps 6, 8 towards or away from rotatable locking caps 5, 10 to clamp or release the hub, a locking system being provided on the caps to prevent them rotating too freely on the spindle. The locking of the caps may be effected by a grub screw 14. The pressure exerted on each of the lugs 1, 2 is adjustable by inserting screws 7, 9 in any one of the multiple of tappings provided in the caps 6, 8 respectively. In a modifiation shown in Fig. 4 clamping is effected by cams 19 on the surfaces of washers 15, 16. Studs 17 prevent the rotation of the washers 15, the washers 16 having flat surface to engage the spindle 3.
