Abstract
609,392. Cramps. FOWLES, J. H. March 13, 1946, No. 7778. [Class 61 (ii)] A bar cramp has one or both jaws angularly adjustable about the bar for gripping work which is askew or otherwise out of alignment. In the form shown, the jaw e projects from a sleeve e<SP>1</SP> with a toothed edge adapted to engage the toothed edge of a ring d held against rotation on a barrel c by means of two diametral projections c<SP>2</SP> on the flange c<SP>1</SP> of the barrel engaging holes in the face of the ring, the barrel being secured in adjusted position along the bar a by a pin b<SP>1</SP> passing through holes in the rear end of the barrel and through one of a number of holes b along the bar and the toothed parts being locked by a screwed ring f threading on the rear part c<SP>3</SP> of the barrel. The cramping jaw g slides on the bar a and is actuated by a screw h working in a nut member k secured to the bar by a pin k<SP>1</SP>. In a modification, the barrel has spaced slots around its circumference adapted to be engaged by a spring plunger on the jaw carrying sleeve for locking the latter in angular adjusted position.
