840,369. Screwdrivers. GRAMIGER A. G., GEB. Feb. 27, 1959 [Dec. 9, 1958], No. 7001/59. Class 61. A screwdriver has a device for holding a screw against the tip of its blade 3 comprising jaws 6 on a chuck 8 displaceable relative to a surrounding sleeve 5 towards which the chuck is biassed by a spring 7 so that the jaws will grip the screw ; also means 11-12 for limiting the forward movement of the jaws relative to the blade and releasably holding them forward for insertion of the screw. The head of a setscrew a moves in a slot 10 in the sleeve to control relative movement between it and the chuck. The other end of the screw 9 can either be retained at B in the transverse groove 12 on the screwdriver shank 2 whilst the jaws are forward for insertion of the screwhead as in Fig. 1, or released to a position, such as A, in the longitudinal groove 11 so that the spring is free to pull the jaws back into the sleeve to cause them to grip the screwhead against the tip of the blade. A grip-ring 14 is provided for manual manipulation of the sleeve.
