Abstract

1,208,212. Screwdrivers. WOLF ELECTRIC TOOLS Ltd. 12 Feb., 1969 [18 March, 1968], No. 13025/68. Heading B3N. A portable electric screwdriver comprises a dog-clutch 8, 9, held in the disengaged position by a spring 18, a slipping clutch 9, 20. held in the engaged position by a spring 25, a screwdriver bit 13 held in the socket 12 of a sliding sleeve 10, and a work-engaging sleeve 40 which may be axially-adjustable on the body 41 of the screwdriver. Clutch 9, 20 may be adjusted so that it doesn't slip when screwing into soft material, by a nut 27. In operation, a screw is engaged with a soft workpiece, pressure is applied to the tool, and clutch 8, 9 is engaged. The screw is screwed into the workpiece until it is engaged by sleeve 40, whereupon the clutch 8, 9 is disengaged. (For Figure see next page.)
