Abstract

731,958. Clamps. CASPER, C. Sept. 29, 1953 [Oct. 23, 1952], No. 26596/52. Addition to 663,966. Class 61. A modification of the invention of the parent Specification consists in providing a number of inner gripping faces on a detachable and rotatable gripping face member. As shown the inner gripping face member 14 is rotatably mounted on a sleeve 13 provided with an internally threaded transverse bore which is adapted to receive a threaded extension 11 of the handle 10. The grip member is angularly slotted to allow free movement about the threaded extension 11. The member 14 may be reversed on the handle to allow other gripping faces to engage the work. An arcuate gripping face 15 is provided on one side of the member 14 and on the other side, a pair of rounded or flat gripping faces 17. An extension 9 of the handle having threads of opposite hand to those on the extension 11 is received in a nut 7 mounted in a U-shaped projection on the base 1, the nut being held against rotation by providing flats thereon. In a modification the gripping member has angularly arranged flat faces on one side and truncated or rectangular extensions on the other side.
