Abstract

556,523. Chucks. VIDAL, C. H., and ARON, E. March 6, 1942, No. 2989. [Class 83 (iii)] A bevel-closing chuck has a two diameter body 10, 11 separated by a shoulder 15 through which openings 14 for the jaws 16 extend to an actuator 25 sliding on the diameter 10 and threaded to engage a threaded sleeve 19 retained on the body by a ball race 22, between flanges 21, 18, and by a flange 23 screwed into the sleeve. locked by a screw 9, and engaging a shoulder 24. Openings 26 in the actuator at right angles to the openings 14 receive heads 28 on the jaws. The end of the sleeve is toothed at 30 and recesses 31 are provided to receive a pinion key. In a modification, the openings 26 are at right angles to the chuck axis.
