Abstract

584,319. Mounting chucks &c. KOKOSINSKI, E. June 29, 1944, No. 12428. [Class 83 (iii)] [Also in Group XXIII] A chuck &c. is fixed to the movable member 16 of a ball joint mounting by a tube 13 tapering at one end to fit into a similarly tapered hole in the movable member, the chuck being fixed to the other end 12 in the same manner. The ball member is mounted in the hollow member 20 which forms the base of the chuck, the outer face 22 having a screw-thread 23 which engages an internal screw-thread 24 of the ring 25. The bearing member 28 also engages a screw-thread 26 on the ring 25. The screwthreads 24 and 26, 23 and 27 are of opposite hand and on turning the ring the bearing members are forced apart to release the ball member or together to clamp it.
