[Class 83 (iii)] [Also in Group XXIII] A wrench or holder for tools such as chisels, drills, taps, &c. comprises an outer part a of double-wedge forin internally at one end and a coacting inner holder part b with a taper slot h along the greater part of its length and the flat faces of the jaws each having a rightangled tapering groove i running the length of the slot and the jaws externally tapered at d such that when drawn within the outer part by the nut c, Fig. 8, or pushed therein by a shouldered nut j, Fig. 7, the jaws are closed to grip the tang at n and prevent relative rotation of the inner and outer parts.
