530,062. Handle-bar control mechanism. SWINBURN, F. R. June 15, 1939, No. 17453. [Class 136 (i)] In twist-grip handle-bar control mechanism for motor-cycles &c. the rotary handle is held in any required setting by two spring-controlled devices, one consisting of an end-thrust spring washer, and the other of a spring-controlled plunger adapted to engage one of a series of peripheral arcuate recesses in the handle or a part associated therewith. A rubber-sheathed rotatable grip 4, 4a is provided at its inner end with a grooved flange or pulley 5, which is mounted in an annular groove 8a in a divided clip 8. secured to the handlebar 7 and is recessed to receive a roller 12 on the end of the inner wire of a Bowden cable 11. An annular spring friction-washer 9 is interposed between the pulley 5 and the wall of the groove 8a on one or both sides. Mounted in the divided clip 8 is a spring-pressed ball or roller 10 adapted to engage one of a series of semi-cylindrical recesses 5a in the periphery of the pulley 5, so as to maintain the rotatable grip positively in any required setting.
