Abstract

'[Class 3(i)] [Also in Groups XI and XL(a)] A fluorescent screen 87 is intermittently illuminated by rotating beams of ultra violet light, formed by a mercury vapour lamp surrounded by a reflector which is rotated by an electric motor 84 or by thermal convection means and which has two apertures 82, 83 covered by filters opaque to visible light but passing ultra-violet light. The rotating beams fall at each rotation on a stationary mirror 86 which deviates the rays on to the fluorescent screen. Visible light from the lamp is directed away from the screen by the reflector.
