Abstract

233,744. McLeod, C. E. Jan. 10, 1924. Signs.-A sign &c. consists of two cr more plates 11, 12 between which light is projected, and is reflected by the opposing surfaces so as to display any characters &c. thereon. The light may be emitted through a slit from a source held in the base 1 supporting the sign, or may proceed from screened lighting means actually between the plates. The plates forming the sign may be parallel, or divergent in either direction, and may be assembled separately into a frame, or be formed into a unit with a channel-shaped reflector 15 at one edge and a translucent strip 14 at the other covering the opening in the lightholder. The source of illumination and the sign may be moved relatively to one another; coloured screens may be employed. On the letters &c. may be mounted small vaned wheels which are rotated either by the air currents due to the heat of the lighting means, or by an electric, motor or the like geared to the spindles of the wheels.
