Abstract

274,725. Hammond, W. F., (Gritt Co., Inc.). Jan. 11, 1927. Cylinders and like elements, rotating; illumination, changing advertisements by controlling; actuating.-An illuminated sign, picture, &c. having an appearance of motion comprises two stationary translucent screens c, d, situated one slightly behind the other. The source of light consists of a lamp e located behind the screens c, d and surrounded by a slotted shade k rotating by convection currents or by other means. The front screen c bears the part of a picture &c. which is to appear still, and the rear screen d the part which is to appear in motion. The shade k may be formed of sinuous serrated lightreflecting ribbons between which the light can pass, and may revolve about a horizontal axis. The lamp e may be controlled by a thermal switch.
