650,361. Exciting dynamo-electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Oct. 14, 1948, No. 26769. Convention date, Oct. 17, 1947. [Class 35] The effect of the control field winding 1 of a generator with short-circuited brushes 2, 3 and a compensating winding 9 is adjusted by the field windings 10, 11, the excitation of which depends in turn on the output of the generator. As shown, the windings 10, 11 are fed by windings 14, 15, 16, 17 on steel cores 12, 13 through rectifiers which keep the polarites as marked, the centre point of windings 10, 11 being connected to a transformer of which only the secondary 20 is shown. The cores 12, 13 also carry windings 26, 27 in series with the control winding 1 and windings 28, 29 dependent on the volts or current produced by the generator.
