Abstract
763,431. Synchronous machines. BRUSH ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. July 23, 1952 [April 24, 1951], No. 9570/51. Class 35. A synchronous motor or generator is compound excited through rectifiers in dependence on both A.C. current and voltage by means of a single transformer, the voltage primary windings having a current limiting impedance in series therewith. As shown, the compounding transformer 16 has current windings 16a, 16b and voltage winding 16c in series with a current-limiting condenser 17. The current at secondary winding 16d is rectified at 18 and controls the main machine 1 through the field winding 6 of exciter 3. If desired, the current windings may be fed through current transformers, the exciter may be dispensed with, or a three-phase transformer may be used.
