Abstract

650,908. Machines with permanent magnets self-contained supply systems. LUCAS, Ltd., J. July 30, 1948, No. 20330. [Classes 35 and 38 (iv)] The output of a small A.C. generator having two generating windings a, b to supply D.C. through a rectifier is controlled by switching arrangement adapted to control the connection between said windings. As shown, the winding a has its mid point permanently connected to the negative of a battery c, while the ends of this winding are connected to the positive of the battery through a rectifier d. The winding b can be arranged as follows : (1) connected in parallel to the winding a ; or (2) open-circuited or (3) short-circuited through a connection h. The machine can be excited either by D.C. or a permanent magnet.
