635,061. Exciting dynamo-electric machines. PESTARINI, G. M. Sept. 26, 1946, No. 28748. [Class 35] A machine 1 giving an output varying with its speed has main brushes a, c connected in series with a source of voltage and a load circuit while a field winding 6 connected across auxiliary brushes b, d produces a field assisting that due to current flowing in the main brushes from the source. As shown, the main brushes a, c are in series with a saturated field exciter 12 and the primary variator winding 11 of a main metadyne 10 whereby the speed of the latter machine is controlled. To adjust the relationship between the voltage and speed of the machine 1 it may have adjustable magnetic shunts in gaps in the stator core to vary its saturation.
