647,768. Machine guns. VERWALTUNGS GES. DER WERKZEUGMASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON. Jan. 10, 1947, No. 969. Convention date, Nov. 27, 1946. [Class 92 (ii)] A magazine 1 for an automatic firearm having cartridges 2 in a channel 3, the cartridges being fed by a spring-pressed follower 4 towards the outlet, has an auxiliary star-shaped member 6 to accelerate the feed of the cartridges to the gun. The member 6, Fig. 2, is connected through a pinion 7 with a toothed wheel 8 on the same shaft as a spring 9 which is tensioned as the magazine is filled. Pawls 10 are fitted in the magazine outlet, Fig. 4. An electromotor may replace the spring-drive of the member 6. Electrical driving means may also replace the spring 5 behind the follower 4.
