[Class 119] A cartridge-feed mechanism for automatic firearms, particularly automatic pistols, comprises a multi-sided drum 16 having a projection 18 on each face to engage under the cartridges as they are fed to the drum in a path parallel to the bore of the gun by a spring follower 24, the projections 18 lifting the end cartridge into the barrel, us the drum is rotated. The breech-block carries a toothed link 21 which actuates teeth 20 on a ratchet wheel mounted on the drum spindle 17, whereby the drum is rotated step-by-step at each reciprocation of the breech-block. The breech end of the barrel is formed with surfaces 4, 6 to guide the cartridges smoothly into the barrel.
