Abstract

Machine guns.-Relates to cartridge-feed mechanism for recoiloperated guns of the kind in which the front of the breech-block is provided with a vertical guide or transporter down which the cartridges are fed by a lever actuated automatically or by hand. According to the invention, the feed-lever 7, which is pivoted to the barrel extension 2, has a lateral lug 8 engaging a cam slot in a plate 10 which, during the automatic action of the gun, is locked to the casing, but which can be reciprocated by hand to raise and lower the feed-lever. The cam slot comprises two oppositely inclined parts 9, 16, the rear part 9 being operative during the automatic action, as shown in Fig. 2, and the front part 16 during the hand-actuation, as shown in Fig. 3. The plate 10 is drawn back by a slide 13, Fig. 3, operated by an external handle and having a lug 12 which engages spaced lugs 11, 15 on the plate 10.
