Abstract
306,440. Werkzeugmaschinenfabrik Oerlikon. Feb. 20, 1928, [Convention date]. Machine guns.-Relates to guns in which the cartridges are fed vertically downwards through a slot in the top of the breech casing and then pushed forward into the barrel by the breechblock. According to the invention, the cartridges P are pushed out of clips K, Fig. 7, in a transversely moving cartridge belt G and down through the aforesaid slot 3a by transversely disposed arms 8, 9, Fig. 2, on a longitudinally disposed shaft 5 operated by the breech-block 2 and provided with a spring pawl 16<a> for moving the belt step by step. The operation of the shaft 5 by the breech-block 2 is performed by cam-shaped rails 18, 19 on the breech-block co-operating with rollers 10<r>, 11<r> on arms 10, 11 projecting from the shaft 5, a spring 13 being provided on the shaft to maintain the rollers in contact with the Tails. When the end of the belt G is reached, a projection thereon deflects a lever 21, Fig. 3, which depresses a rod 25, deflecting another lever 26. This operates a rod 27 which causes the breech-block 2 to remain cocked by its hook 2a, as described in Specification 306,069.
