Abstract
336,327. Peters, J. July 26, 1929. Machine guns.-Maxim guns in which the firing lock 1 is reciprocated by a crank attached to a connecting-rod 13 have the firing pin 11 cocked directly by the connecting-rod, preferably through the medium of co-operating inclines 25, 26. The cartridge 27 in the belt is engaged by spring grips 2 on the front of the lock, the springs 3, Fig. 5, being dovetailed into the lock and into the grips for ready replacement.. Fixed to the gun casing by hooks 7 on side arms 5 and by a transverse pin 8 is a cartridge transporter having a central ramp 4 which engages the cartridge 27 during the rearward movement of the lock to force it down the guides on the front of the lock into alignment with the barrel. The hand sear 19 is operated by the usual trigger lever 21 and trigger-bar 22, and the automatic sear 18 is freed by a nose on the connecting-rod when the breech is closed.
