Abstract

555,265. Automatic guns. VICKERS-ARMSTRONGS, Ltd., and HIGSON. P. R. 3 March 1941, No. 2864. [Class 92 (ii)] In a machine gun of the long-recoil type, a spring support 5 for the nose of a cartridge 1 is pivotally mounted in a recess 8 in the barrel extension 7 immediately behind the entrance to the gun chamber 2. The spring support acts as a buffer during insertion of the cartridge into the chamber by the feed piece 3 on the breech block 4.
