Abstract
542,392. Automatic guns. ROE & CO., Ltd., A. V., and REDRUP, C. B. July 15, 1940, No. 11691. [Class 92 (ii)] Relates to the feed of cartridges in the passage leading to the gun breech and consists in providing in combination a fluted roller g turned by the cartridges and a curved recess h to guide the cartridges as they engage the roller. The invention is shown applied to the split-belt feed device described and claimed in Specifications 542,119, 542,122 and 542,123. The cartridges a being propelled through the feed passage f engage and rotate the fluted roller g mounted on the wall of the passage opposite to the recess h. The roller in conjunction with the recess serves to prevent tilt of the cartridges. The cartridges after passing the roller are engaged by a spring pawl i to press them in turn into a recess j and thereafter to prevent them rising in the passage when being fed to the gun chamber by the breech-block.
