The recess may be formed in the side or, as shown, in the lower edge of the butt and may terminate at its rear end in a support 7 above which is a spring which bears against the magazine. In a modification the recess, with suitable intermediate supports, houses a plurality of magazines end to end. Specification 502,782 is referred to.
