Abstract
505,946. Guns. CESKOSLOVENSKA ZBROJOVKA AKCIOVA SPOLECNOST, 13RN0. June 28, 1938, No. 19151. Convention date, .June 29,1937. [Class 119] A shoulder-controlled gun, particularly one having a large calibre, e.g. 10 mms. or more, has the breech - block carried by a member which is guided, directly by means on the barrel during the entire opening or closing movement of the breech-block. The forward end of the barrel is supported by two legs (not shown). The gun has a pistol-grip 32 and the breech-block 10 is rotatably mounted in a bearing 6 carried by a member 7 which is forked to provide two bars 2 engaging guide-bars 4 at the rear end of the barrel. The forward ends of the bars 2 are provided with stops 3. The breech-block is actuated by a handle 15 and has two screw surfaces 12 for engagement with mutilated threads in the barrel. The forward end of the breech-block has a U-guide for receiving the rims of the cartridges. The cocking of the firing pin is effected in known manner by a cam on the handle 15. In a modification, the breech-block carrier may consist of a pair of rods sliding in guides in the same plane as the barrel axis, and secured to the barrel, In a further modification, the breechblock carrier is formed as a sleeve 3, Fig. 7, slidable on the barrel and provided with slots 2<1> for the introduction and removal of cartridges. According to another modification, the breech-block carrier 2, Fig. 8, slides in a groove in the guide 4 on the barrel 1, the carrier having a slot 5 through which passes a pin 25 in the guide 4. When the breech-block is withdrawn, it may be swung about the pin 25, as indicated in broken lines, to facilitate loading &c. A safety device comprises a spring pin 40, Fig. 5, in the breech-block carrier, this pin only disengaging a pin 45 in the handle 15 from the carrier 6 to permit the handle to be rotated to close the breech, when the breechblock has been moved into the barrel.
