Abstract

646,145. Toothed and friction gearing. BUCHI, A. June 27, 1947, Np. 17058. Convention date, July 4, 1946. [Class 80(i) In a step-up gearing at least the high-. est gear train is a friction gearing, the smaller friction wheel 4 being mounted on the high speed shaft 1 and surrounded by larger friction wheels 5. Each wheel 5 is keyed to a spur wheel 6 driven by a gear 15, the wheels 5, 6, being rotatable on a bearing sleeve 7 mounted on an eccentric part 8 of a spindle 9, 12, supported by a casing which encloses the gearing. Journal 12 of the shaft is mounted in and keyed to a sleeve 13 formed with an arm 11 spring-urged to turn the shaft and urge the wheels 5, 6, into contact with the wheels 4, 15 respectively. In a modification the wheel bearings may be directly spring-pressed. The second highest gear train may also be friction gearing. A slip coupling may be incorporated in the drive to the low speed shaft.
