639,540. Automatic guns. ZBROJOVKA BRNO, NARODNI PODNIK. June 17, 1946, No. 18196. Convention date, Jan. 7, 1942. [Class 92 (ii)] An automatic firearm with a recoiling barrel 1, and a gas piston 5 to operate the breech mechanism, is characterized in that the breech-block 7 moves transversely of the gun and by engaging with a stationary part 2 controls the movement of the barrel to its forward position. When a shot is fired the barrel recoils against the action of a spring 10, and the piston 5 which is connected to a breechblock carrier 6 partakes of a more rapid movement to compress a spring 8<SP>1</SP>. During these movements grooves 8 in the carrier 6 lift the breech-block, which has rollers 9 engaging in these grooves, and when the spring 10 expands the lifted breech-block engages a shoulder 19 in the breech casing and thus temporarily prevents forward movement of the barrel. Release is effected when the carrier moves forwardly to lower the breech-block, firing taking place, as the barrel and breech-block run forwards, by the striking of a post 17 of the carrier against the firing pin 18.
