Abstract

424,565. Automatic guns. LAHTI, A. J., 1, Kausakoulukatu, Jyvõskylõ, Finland. July 19, 1933, No. 20381. [Classes 92 (ii) and 119] Relates to machine guns automatic pistols and other short-recoil firearms of the kind in which the breech-block 6 is slidably displaced within the barrelextension 5 by a breech-block carrier 2, the movement of which relatively to the breech-block actuates a locking-lever 3 pivoted to the breech-block. According to the invention, the release of the locking-lever from an abutment 5<a> on the barrel-extension is effected by a stirrup member 4 the depending arms of which engage inclines 2<c> in side grooves x in the carrier 2 when the latter moves rearwards in relation to the breech-block. After firing, the carrier is in the example shown, moved rearwards by an accelerating-lever 14 which bears against the recoiling barrel 7. After the breechblock is unlocked as described above, the breech-block and carrier move rearwards together against the action of the closing spring 11, until the carrier is retained by the sear 10. On pulling the trigger 12, the carrier is released and, when the breech-block has loaded a fresh cartridge, the carrier moves relatively to the block to lift the locking-lever 3 by means of an incline 2<g> and to fire the cartridge by means of the firing pin 13.
