Abstract
635,531. Heat radiators. BROCKEN, R. G., and RAY-HEETING CO., Ltd. April 28, 1948, No. 11656. [Class 126] [Also in Groups XII and XIII] A gas-fired infra-red emitter, in which the combustion chamber is closed at the front by a plate from which heat is radiated, has, above the combustion chamber, a flue the front of which can be opened or closed to allow flue gases to reach or be excluded from articles to be heated. A heating tunnel contains infra-red emitters each comprising a combustion chamber 1 bounded by a metal heat-emitting panel 2 heated by flames from a gas-burner 8 and a rear refractory block 4 assembled within a metal frame 7. Combustion products pass upwardly to a transverse flue 6 connected with the chimney. The front 10 of the flue 6 may be provided with an imperforate front cover which is interchangeable with a front cover having openings which allow all the combustion products to enter the heating space of the tunnel when the ends of the flue 6 are closed. Alternatively, the front cover may be provided with valve-controlled openings. The frame 7, which may be of aluminium alloy, is adapted to form an air inlet 5 below the combustion chamber.
