Abstract
666,016. Liquid-fuel heaters. GARRARD, C. A. J. June 26, 1950 [July 11, 1949], No. 18307/49. Class 51 (i). [Also in Group XI] In an infra-red radiant heat emitter of the type in which a metal panel let into one side of a casing is heated on its rear face by a burner and in which a baffle plate is disposed behind the panel and within the casing, a reflector is attached externally to the casing in spaced relation thereto on the side opposite to that in which the panel is set. As shown, the rectangular casing of the emitter comprises the metal panel 14, back plate 17, upper and lower tie bars 11 and side flues 10, the baffle plate 15 within the casing directing the flow of combustion products from the burners 23a over the rear face of panel 14 before they pass to the flues 10 via the openings 25. The reflector 19 is spaced from the back 17 of the casing and is formed top and bottom with inclined strips 18 such that air may enter the opening below the lower tie bar 11 and pass upwardly through the passage 22 thereby receiving heat from the reflector 19 before leaving the emitter through the opening above the upper tie bar 11. Combustion air is supplied to the burners through ducts 23. The emitter is intended for use in a drying oven and where a plurality of them are mounted one above the other their flues may be connected thereby forming common flues. According to the Provisional Specification the reflector may be pivotally mounted behind the casing.
