Abstract

634,981. Cycle pedals. PHILLIPS & CO., Ltd., J. A., and BOULSTRIDGE, T. J. March 30, 1948, No. 8940. [Class 136 (ii)] A cycle pedal comprises a unitary die cast frame and a tubular centre 10 with cupped enlargements 11, 12 and rubber treads having attachment portions clamped to the side bars 15 of the frame and beaded edges 18 that surround and overlap the edges of the side bars. The end bars of the pedal are formed by extensions 13, 14 carried by the bearing cup housings 11, 12 respectively. The extensions 14 are inclined away from the housing 12. A central internally projecting strengthening rib 16 is provided on the inner face of the side bars 15 and the end bars 13, 14. Each rubber tread is held in place by a light metal alloy plate 19 having screws 20 passing through a part 17 of the tread into tapped holes in the side bar 15.
