Abstract
678,745. Cycle pedals. PHILLIPS & CO., Ltd., J. A. March 27, 1951 [April 21, 1950], No. 9840/50. Class 136(ii) In a cycle pedal of the kind in which the tread surfaces of the pedal are constituted by rubber elements clamped to the side plates of the pedal, the rubber elements 15 are continued from the side plates 14 around the outer end of the pedal, and the side plates and a clamping plate 16 outside the rubber elements are also similarly continued. The rubber elements form the tread surfaces and may be constituted d by a single strip or may be in two or more parts. The beaded edge 15c of the tread 15 is ribbed or otherwise provided with a tread pattern 18. The portion of the tread 15 at the outer end of the pedal may have an upstanding abutment 19, Fig. 4, to prevent lateral slip of the cyclist's foot. Screws 17 secure the plates 14 and 16 and the interposed tread 15 to supports 13 provided on the pedal centre 10.
