Abstract
718,290. Engine-assisted cycles. KREIDLER, A. Dec. 13, 1951 [Dec. 18, 1950], No. 29163/51. Class 79(3) In an engine-assisted bicycle in which the engine and the pedal drive are formed as a single unit, the unit is connected to the frame of the bicycle by two members, one of which is located above and forwardly of the pedal crank axis and the other of which is located below and rearwardly of the axis. As shown the engine 5 and pedal cranks 2 have their drives housed in a common casing 1, the drive being taken therefrom by a sprocket 3 and a chain to the rear wheel. The casing 1 has a lug 6 which passes between lugs 7 on the bicycle frame 8, a bolt passing through holes in the lugs 6 7. A lug 11 on the casing passes between lugs 12 on the frame, a bolt and a rubber bush connecting the lugs 11. 12. The lug 6 may alternatively be arranged on the engine cylinder or a third connection may be provided at 15.
