Abstract
630,607. Supply systems for discharge apparatus. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 7, 1944, No. 24535. Convention date, Dec. 9, 1943. [Class 38 (iv)] A voltage adequate to start discharge in a lamp is applied across the electrodes from a transformer and a current responsive automatic switch is provided for reducing the number of turns of the transformer winding across the same electrodes for running conditions, as shown, current through switch coil 16 after starting short circuits section 6 of the transformer secondary which had previously been across the electrodes in series with section 7. The transformer primary has additional turns 14 to step up the voltage applied to the condenser 13. In a modification an autotransformer with a tapped secondary is used. Specification 14175/03, [Class 38], is referred to.
