Abstract
629,850. Cooling charge. CROSSLEY BROS., Ltd., and CARTER, H. D. Dec. 15, 1947, Nos. 32969/47 and 28227/48. [Class 7 (ii)] A refrigerater c cools the air intake supply of a compression ignition oil engine, the refrigerant being compressed and/or circulated by a pump f coupled to an exhaust-driven turbine h. Scavenging air from an engine-driven pump a passes through a preliminary water-cooler b and the refrigerator c to the intake manifold d. The refrigerating system comprises the refrigerater c, a condenser e and the pump f which is preferably a multi-stage turbo-compressor but may be a gear driven piston type compressor.
