432,023. Cooling air-compressors. GARELLI, A., 13, Via Zenale, Milan, Italy. Dec. 15, 1933, No. 35347. [Class 8 (i)] In a combined internal-combustion engine and air compressor in which a motor cylinder 15 and a compressor cylinder 16 are disposed at an angle to one another upon a crank-case common to them both, the crankshaft 22 is extended outside the crankcase 12 and carries a flywheel 23, the rim of which is provided with impeller blades 24. A cowling 30 surrounds the motor cylinder 15 and is provided with a horizontal wall 32 which overlies the aircompressor cylinder 16 and with a lateral extension 31 which completes the encasement. Air is directed by the impeller against the ribs 29 on the cylinder 15 and also to the air cylinder. A fuel tank 33 is mounted in the wall 32, its vertical wall 34 is initially cast with the ribs of the engine cylinder and the ribs are subsequently cut asunder.
