Abstract
318,540. Sulzer FrÞres Soc. Anon. Sept. 5, 1928, [Convention date]. Actuating by gas engines.-In engines wherein an air or gas compressor 13 is driven off the main crosshead 3, the casing 24 containing or supporting the compressor closes in an oil-tight manner the opening in the engine crank case 25 through which the driving beam 9 passes. This beam is coupled to the compressor piston-rod 12' by a link 11. Below the compressor piston is mounted a pump 15 for the cooling water or for the cooling water and bilge water. This water pump is bolted on the engine case; its driving connection 16 with a rod 30 on the compressor piston-rod 12 is of such a form that by loosening the securing bolts 20 the whole pump may be removed laterally from the engine. The beam 9 may drive more than one pump or compressor. The pump and compressor need not be in exact alignment.
