Pumps, cooling.-A centrifugal compressor 3 for supercharging is mounted on the underside of the engine 1 with its shaft vertical; the compressor is cooled by air flowing over it caused by the movement of the vehicle on which the engine is used'., The compressor is driven through gearing 5 from the crank shaft and draws from the carburettor 8. Ribs 11 are formed on the compressor casing to increase the cooling.
