Abstract

626,986. Boiler furnaces. JANITOR BOILERS, Ltd., and RIDGLEY, G. A. Dec. 16, 1946, No. 37040. [Class 51 (i)] In a hopper-fed boiler furnace wherein the hopper 2 has openings 8 for the admission of ventilating air, a water way 10 carries a plate 11 defining the fuel outlet and having orifices for the passage of said air to the secondary combustion space, said orifices being protected by a shield plate 13. In a modification Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown) the air escape orifices discharge into ducts defined by side water walls of the boiler and plates forming a narrowing fuel discharge duct which consolidates the fuel at the discharge point.
