845,702. Pulverulent fuel burners. WALTHER & CIE A. G. Oct. 30, 1956 [Nov. 5, 1955], No. 33105/56. Class 75(1). [Also in Group XII] In a burner for pulverized coal having a substantially rectangular cross-section, openings for secondary air supply are arranged at the sides of the burner mouth and are formed as nozzles, preferably of rectangular cross-section, the axes of which converge towards the burner mouth. In the form shown, the burner mouth 3 is of rectangular shape, a series of nozzles for secondary air being arranged along the sides and inwardly inclined. Further air is supplied by slots 5 arranged outside the nozzles, the air supply to the nozzles 4 and slots 5 being controlled by butterfly valves 6. To improve the cooling of the burner one tube 8 of the burner wall 7 may be located between the walls of the nozzles 4 and slots 5.
