Class 51(i) A pulverulent-fuel furnace has a substantially horizontallydisposed combustion chamber of the cyclone type, the quantity of secondary air admitted to the lower portion of the combustion chamber being made greater than the quantity admitted to the upper portion. As shown in Fig. 2 a cyclone chamber provided with secondary-air inlets 8 has a greater number of inlets in the lower portion. than in the upper. In modifications the air inlets at the bottom of the chamber may be of greater size and not of greater number than those in the top portion, or air may be delivered to the lower inlets at greater pressure than to the upper inlets.
