625,455. Roofs, slabs. HUPKES, B. A., and RIJNLANDSCHE BETONBOUW MAATSCHAPPIJ N. V. Dec. 9, 1946, No. 36319. Convention date, Dec. 7, 1945. [Classes 20(iv) and 87(i)] A roof is built up of heat-insulating slabs 1 which are made of wood-concrete or cellular-concrete and are reinforced with rods 5 in the form of elongated hoops, a part of each rod extending externally of the slab and such parts being interconnected by transverse rods 7 to provide the reinforcement for a covering layer of concrete. The slabs may be tongued and grooved as shown and be rabbetted at their upper edges to accommodate connecting rods 9 and 13. In a modification the loops project beyond the ends of the slabs, the loops of adjoining slabs being staggered and the two series of slabs connected by a single rod passing through the loops. A coating 3 of mastic or other waterproofing material completes the construction. Specification 268,750, [Class 20(iv)], is referred to.
