Classes 20(iv) and 87(i) [Also in Group V] A building block made from cement mortar, concrete or other self-setting material has the cross-section shown in Fig. 2, a and b being closed hollows and c an open recess. The recess c may be filled with concrete and surfacing material. Long beams of reinforced or pre-stressed concrete may be made by arranging a number of the blocks with their recesses c in alignment, placing reinforcement in the recesses and pouring concrete into the recesses to cover the reinforcement.
